Mrs. Doris Baker Golden

Doris Baker Golden of Albertville, age 74, died Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Hospice of West Alabama in Tuscaloosa. Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 9, 2018 at Adams-Brown chapel in Albertville with Rev. Neeley Lane of First Presbyterian Church Tuscaloosa officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Doris’s beloved husband of 55 years, Wayne Golden, passed away February 2, 2018. She was also preceded in death by her parents, J.T. and Iris Baker, and by her brother Charles Baker. Doris Ann Baker was born on August 23, 1943 in Gadsden. Upon her 1961 graduation from Emma Sansom High School, Doris studied business. She married Wayne Golden on August 18, 1962. She worked in banking and served on the Marshall County Board of Registrars, and was an active member of the Albertville Aggie Band Booster Club while her children were in the program. Doris enjoyed being a mother, being a Mimi to her grandsons, traveling, gardening, cooking, and reading. She was an active member of The Fellowship Church in Albertville, singing in the Celebration Choir and learning to play the saxophone, allowing her to play in the church orchestra. Doris was a founding member of the Laignappe Literary Ladies book club, a group of special friends who have been reading, traveling and celebrating life events together since 1998. Doris’s survivors include her son Marc Golden (Michelle) of Hokes Bluff, daughter Stephanie Hickman (Scott) of Tuscaloosa and her three cherished grandsons Will Hickman, John Robert Golden, and Baker Hickman. She is also survived by her sister Wanda Williams (Glenn), several nephews and nieces. Pallbearers will be her grandsons Will Hickman, John Robert Golden, and Baker Hickman, as well as family friends Rod Ferguson, Mickey Fisher, and Terry Gladden. Honorary pallbearers include book club friends Reba Cofield, Pat Federico, Marquita Jones, Rosemary Lacy, Charlotte Long, Bettie Moore, Judy Stietzel, Judi Tidwell, and Glenda Wooten.
