Mrs. Lois Evans

Lois Upton Evans, 95, of Albertville, died Thursday, Feb. 16, 2017. She was born Nov. 25, 1921, in DeKalb County. Lois was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Newton Upton and Alma Dalrymple Upton; her husband, Elred Glenn Evans; and daughter, Chella Thomason Brown. Beloved survivors include: sons, Phillip (Janet) Thomason, of Tupelo, Mississippi, and Larry Thomason, of Huntsville; a daughter, Vicki Evans Hough, of Auburn; grandchildren, Wesley (Jennifer) Williams, Amy (Wes) Riley, Brandon Evans Hough, Casey Delone (Kendra) Brown; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Riley Cruber, Will Riley, Maggie Riley, Sam Riley, Bradley Williams, Madison Williams and Kiley Brown. Lois was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a faithful and active member of Albertville United Methodist Church, serving with the United Methodist Women and volunteering in other service areas within the church and throughout the community. Lois was a member and leader in the Albertville Art League for many years, participating in art shows and showcasing her specialty wreaths, pictures, pillows and other original creations. Lois turned her love of flowers into the creative art of pressed flower pictures. She taught classes of how to design pictures from flowers at schools, civic clubs and other organizations. Lois was insistent on giving away rather than charging for her creations to friends and family and was content to know they were displayed in special places by the recipients. She will always be remembered fondly by so many as “The Flower Lady.” Those who knew Lois will forever feel the touch of her sweet spirit and unselfish desire to help and serve others. The family would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the loving and caring staff of the Albertville Nursing Home. Thank you angels. We also wish to extend our blessings and gratitude to the Simmons family. Juanita Simmons, Lois’ devoted roommate for four years at Albertville Nursing Home, preceded her in death Feb. 13. Her family became our family and we are grateful to them for their love and support. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 19, 2017, at First Methodist Church of Albertville. Burial will follow at Memory Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017, at Adams Brown Service Funeral Home from 5-8 p.m.
