Mr. Revis McGill

Revis Denton McGill, 79, lost his battle with Cancer on Wednesday, October 17, 2018. Revis had many names to his friends and family, but he was most commonly known as Mack or Rabbit. Revis leaves behind his wife of 56 years, Nancy Johnston McGill, his daughter, Patricia McGill, of Fairhope, his son, Mark McGill, of Birmingham, and his granddaughters, Taylor and Madison McGill, of Birmingham, along with several relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Roxie and Will McGill, his sisters, Myrtle Head and Jesse Payne, and his brothers Fred, Frank, Bill, and Dennis McGill. Revis was a member of the Baptist Church in Remlap. He belonged to the Masonic Lodge of Center Point, No. 872, and he was a member of the Civitan Club. He served in the United States Air Force, and he retired from Drummond ABC, after 43 years of service. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and he loved Alabama Football, but more than anything, he enjoyed spending time with his granddaughters, Taylor and Madison. He was a good father and grandfather. He was a hard worker and a good provider for his family. He was protective of his daughter and he was a good role model for his son, guiding him to be the man and father he is today. He loved his wife of 56 years, Nancy, and leaned on her for his strength. He knew she made him a better man. He was the life of the party with his friends, and he never met a stranger. He was always quick with a joke, no matter how bad it was, and he was generous to his friends and family. He will truly be missed by family and friends, but he is in a much better place now. Revis will be laid to rest on Sunday, October 21, 2018. Visitation for Revis will be at Adams Brown Service Funeral Home, 6906 US Highway 431 South, Albertville, AL, 35950, from 12-2pm on Sunday. A service will follow at 2:00pm. After the service, we will travel to Asbury United Methodist Church, 3205 Asbury Road, Albertville, AL, 35951, for a short graveside service, with food and fellowship to follow. Please come and help us celebrate the life of Revis Denton McGill. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be given to the American Cancer Society, in his honor.
